Thursday Tidbits

I'm losing track of what day it is since I'm spending all of my tine cuddling with my sweet baby and changing diaper and feeding and well you get the point, being a mom is busy.

Parker had a doctors visit yesterday because he had been flaring his nostrils and we wanted to have him checked out just to make sure. He has bad reflux and we were told to buy some stuff to put in his milk to thicken it and it should help keep it down in his tummy. His nose was swollen inside from the reflux and that was causing the flaring. He checked out pretty well otherwise, his lungs sounded great and he weighs 7lbs 12 oz now! So obviously most of "momma's milk" is sticking down in his growing tummy!
He did however have what the doctor thinks is a heart murmur. These are said to be common and especially in preemies. His regular doctor was out of the office and it was her partner that heard the murmur. I am praying this is just a fluke because he didn't have it in the NICU and had several doctors and nurses listen to him daily there. He also saw his regular Dr. J a week ago and she said he sounded great. The pediatricians office will make an appointment with the pediatric cardiologist and we will take him to make sure everything closed properly within his heart. However, if it is something bigger, we will cross that bridge when we get to it and pray pray pray right now that it will heal on it's own if it is to be a heart murmur. I'm not worried well not as much as I was, I was pretty upset yesterday but after some reading and other stories of how their child had one I feel better. I know that God created Parker to be fearfully and wonderfully made and He made sure everything was perfect on Parker as he grew in my womb. We'll just wait and see what the cardiologist says. This rollercoaster is taking me for a ride but I'm pretty sure that's called parenthood and it will be a long journey.

We have snow falling outside and it's beautiful. Bbq chicken is in the crock pot for tonight and I have a sleeping baby right beside me. It's going to be a great Thursday!

He will be fine...I just know it! Bonnie and I were 8 wks premature (being twins) and I had a heart murmur at birth, but it never ended up effecting me...so hopefully this is the case and usually it doesn't mean anything serious. Praying for your sweet baby boy!

I will be praying that Parker has a good report at his next doctor's appointment. Enjoy all of the cuddle time that you can! They grow up so fast and never want to slow down for cuddle time with momma!

Anna- Do not worry about it, it will all work out. Dr. Jeannie will tell you that most of the time they go away on their own. Weston had one in the hospital on the first day and when she came back the next day it was gone. Plus, I would not take anything to heart until you hear it from Dr. J. By the way, how did you like the partner? I have had some experiences. I will be praying for you all! Parker is a cutie by the way.

LOVE the sweet pic of him...so cute.

The thickening agents work really well. My daughter took better to the Simply Thick rather than Thick-It but they both work the same. And it helps...a lot. Faith does much better with her (grade III) reflux now, and the Lansoprazole helps :)
I'll also be praying for his heart.
Both girls had it at birth. Theirs didn't close on their own (but they were also born sooooo very early) but the surgery was done at bedside in the NICU and only took 5 minutes.

Parker is precious! Try not to worry. I know it's not easy thinking something might be wrong. I mean I cried over B having a clogged tear duct! But just have faith that God is walking right beside you. He is always working. Love ya girl!!!
